AI will completely change how work is done. I'm convinced of it.
Takuya Tominaga
CEO, Leach Inc.
Survived on 4 hours of sleep in grad school, won 3 academic awards. Spent 9 years at Toshiba's research lab, working with Google and McKinsey on the front lines of data business. Now I code 17 hours a day and my eyes twitch constantly. Through it all, one thing has always been clear: even as technology races ahead, the daily work in companies hasn't changed.
After leaving Toshiba, I visited dozens of companies. People using rulers on monitors to match documents. Copy-pasting by hand, over and over. Upstairs, big talks about AI and DX. Downstairs, people exhausted. AI can change this. I was instantly convinced.
"We want AI but don't know where to start." If that sounds like you, please reach out. We'll look at your work together and split what AI can handle from what people should still check.
CEO, Leach Inc.

Profile
- Education
- Born 1989. Master's from NAIST (Nara Institute of Science and Technology).* NAIST is a graduate-only national research university. Known for the Matsumoto Lab — the birthplace of MeCab, the de facto standard tool for Japanese NLP. Since it has no undergraduate program, students transfer in from other universities including UTokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
- University
- Interned at Akatsuki, Speee, and eXmotion — all three later went public (IPO). Won Speee Advanced Internship.* Akatsuki: gaming (TSE Prime listed). Speee: marketing DX (TSE Prime listed). exmotion: embedded software consulting (TSE Standard listed). All three were unlisted startups during the internship.
- Toshiba — 9 Years
- Covered HDD firmware (low-level) to AWS data analytics and web apps (high-level). Built an iOS chat app in Objective-C in 2013. Seconded to the executive office of subsidiary Toshiba Tec as the youngest ever. Worked on joint projects with Google and McKinsey.* HDD firmware = the lowest-layer code that drives hard disks (typically considered the hardest domain). AWS data analytics platform = big-data processing infrastructure on Amazon's cloud. The Toshiba Tec board-level secondment placed him on a special task force reporting directly to executives — at the youngest age in company history for that role.
- Awards
- Invited Lecturer at JSSST 42nd Annual Conference (2025) / DICOMO 2014 Best Presentation Award (1st out of 293) & Best Paper Award (double win) / IPSJ DPSWS 2014 Best Poster Award / 2nd place in 'Toshiba AI Engineer Training Program' (co-developed with UTokyo) / Toshiba Software Technology Center Outstanding Performance Award / Supercomputing Contest 2006 Finalist* JSSST = Japan Society for Software Science and Technology (founded 1983, a leading academic society). DICOMO = a symposium on multimedia communication and distributed processing run by IPSJ (annually in July). Toshiba AI Engineer Training Program = an internal AI training co-developed by Toshiba and UTokyo (not open enrollment).
- Certifications & Patents
- All 12 AWS certifications (Amazon's world-leading cloud service, earned in ~1 month — unprecedented speed globally) / LPIC Level 3 (top Linux certification) / Patent No. 7086873 (inventor; right-holder: Toshiba Corp.)* AWS All 12 = held all 12 AWS certifications (globally rare). LPIC Level 3 = the highest Linux technical certification. Patent 7086873 = registered invention patent on which Tominaga is listed as inventor (right-holder: Toshiba Corp.) — verifiable on Japan's J-PlatPat patent database.
- Founding
- Founded Leach, Inc. in November 2024. Won the Technical Award at the YC-affiliated hackathon "c0mpiled-7: San Fransokyo" (organized by Transpose Platform) in March 2026. Same month, won the VoiceOS Award at Builders Weekend 2026 Tokyo.* YC (Y Combinator) = the largest startup accelerator in Silicon Valley. c0mpiled-7 = a YC-affiliated hackathon held at Toranomon Hills Mori Tower in March 2026 (230 participants). Builders Weekend = an international hackathon co-hosted by Digital Garage (TSE Prime listed) with 205 participants. Both wins were achieved with international teams formed on the day.
A Man Who Gave His Life to Code
Elementary / Junior High School
Played Pokémon Red, Green & Blue and thought: "I want to make games like this." Started programming. In junior high, built a password-protected BBS for his classmates. It took off immediately — but he forgot file locking, and all the data was wiped.
Graduate School (NAIST)
Survived on 4 hours of sleep, fully immersed in research. Won triple awards: DICOMO Best Presentation (1st out of 293), Outstanding Paper, and DPSWS Outstanding Poster.
Akatsuki Era (Internship)
Kept coding after work, sleeping on the floor. A tumor (blood clot) formed on his back and had to be surgically removed at a Red Cross hospital.
Toshiba R&D Era
Broke a plate while washing dishes, slicing his middle finger halfway through. The tendon barely held — he can still code today. Rode the BTC wave and by his second year out of college, had already eaten everything he wanted and traveled everywhere he wanted.
COVID-19 Golden Week (May 2021)
A dream he'd chased since his Toshiba days: cycling the length of Japan. The stars never aligned — extended leave, same-day hotel availability, and decent weather never came together at once. Then COVID hit, hotels emptied out, and he thought: "Now or never." He cycled approximately 1,350 km from Yokohama to Kumamoto over 11 days (9 riding days + 2 rain rest days) on an e-bike.
After Founding (Now)
Codes 17 hours a day. His eyes twitch constantly. But his hands never stop.
